TÓTalJOY Prize

Call for proposal

Endre Tót and the Museum of Fine Arts - Central European Research Institute for Art History (SZM - KEMKI) have launched an open call for project proposals based on artistic research.

The founder and the supporter of the prize is Endre Tót, renowned Hungarian artist living in Berlin. It has long been his wish to establish a form of endowment that can support artistic activity in Hungary. The mission of the prize is to enable in each year the realization of one selected artistic research project, preferably with a reflection on current cultural processes and contexts.

SZM - KEMKI will provide curatorial and research consultation to the selected project and organize an exhibition to present it to the public.

The total budget of the prize is 10 000 euros, of which 6000 euros are the stipend of the artist, and 4000 euros are for the realization of the project and the exhibition.

The winning proposal will be selected by an international jury.

In 2023 the jury is comprised of:

  • Zdenka Badovinac (director, Museum of Contemporary Art (MSU), Zagreb)
  • René Block (curator, gallerist, Berlin)
  • Dávid Fehér (director, SZM - KEMKI)
  • Tamás Kaszás (artist, recipient of the prize in 2021)
  • Emese Kürti (deputy director for research, SZM-KEMKI)

  • Nóra Lukács (curator, Berlin)
  • Berenika Partum (curator, Berlin)
