International Archivists Visit and Workshop at Artpool Art Research Center as Part of a Two-Year Research Network on the Attic Archive
Artpool Art Research Centre is one of four archives participating in the international research project 'Curating the Digital Attic Archive: A Case Study for Open-Source Approaches to Artists' Archives', and will host a meeting of archivists from Scotland and Ireland in person and an online workshop with leading experts from Denmark, Germany, and Netherlands during 24-25 October 2024.
The project, led by Dr Judit Bodor (University of Dundee) and Dr Roddy Hunter (The Glasgow School of Art) and funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh, grows out of an initial exploratory workshop as part of the earlier project ‘Curating Living Archives', and explores ways to enhance access and interaction with The Attic Archive, established by artist Pete Horobin in 1975 at 37 Union Street, Dundee, and now dispersed across collections in Scotland, Ireland and Hungary.
Working as a 'network of care,' the research group is developing an open-source web platform for The Attic Archive designed and developed by sound and infrastructure artist Vo Ezn. This is the second workshop in a series of three, and you can learn more about the first event in Dundee here.
We aim to launch the web platform publicly in 2025, where we will publish work and documentation generated through the project.
