TÓTalJOY Prize 2025
The Central European Research Institute for Art History (KEMKI) warmly invites all interested parties to the TÓTalJOY Award ceremony, which will take place on June 24, 2025.
Endre Tót and the Central European Research Institute for Art History (KEMKI) established the TÓTalJOY prize for contemporary artists in 2021. The prize derives its name from Endre Tót’s conceptual program centred on the notion of joy, which was launched in the 1970s. His early joy pieces and the actions of the TÓTalJOY series are considered among the most important works of the Eastern European conceptual art.
The third TÓTalJOY call, announced in January 2025, received thirty-seven research-based artistic project proposals. From these, the jury shortlisted the work of four artists whose projects sensitively reflect on contemporary artistic and social issues:
- Lőrinc Borsos
- Ferenc Gróf and Zsófia Gyenes
- Klaudia Januško
- Dorottya Vékony
The 2025 jury members are: René Block (curator, Berlin), Dávid Fehér (director, KEMKI), Yolanda Kaddu-Mulindwa (director, Municipal Galleries Neukölln, Berlin), Emese Kürti (deputy director for research, KEMKI), Daniel Muzyczuk (interim director, Muzeum Sztuki, Łódź), Nóra Lukács (curator, Berlin), Berenika Partum (curator, Berlin), and Zsolt Petrányi (deputy scientific director, Museum of Fine Arts – Hungarian National Gallery).
Introductions to the shortlisted projects will be published in video format on KEMKI’s online platforms over the coming weeks.
The announcement of the winning project will take place at the award ceremony in the presence of Endre Tót. The event is open to the public, and all interested are warmly welcome.
